SX4 - Model Information

Suzuki Auto South Africa (SASA) has announced the  launch of an expanded and significantly improved SX4 crossover hatchback range.

The new line-up places the emphasis on improved performance and efficiency, greater levels of style and comfort, and improved overall refinement.

But the major drawcard of the new range is the introduction of an all-wheel drive derivative for the first time.

The 2010 version of Suzuki's dynamic urban crossover displays an even more striking appearance, along with numerous under-the-skin revisions – including a more powerful and economical 2,0-litre VVT engine.

The changes to the 2010 model range ensure that the SX4 will be even better placed to buck negative sales trends. It is expected to attract a growing number of active, lifestyle-oriented buyers who appreciate its ideal combination of style, space, raised driving position, hatchback practicality and fuel economy.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

As one of the most affordable four-wheel drive vehicles on the road, the Suzuki SX4 AWD benefits from the all-terrain confidence delivered by its intelligent All-Wheel Drive (i-AWD) system.

More power, lower consumption and emissions.

The updated Suzuki SX4 range is released with a new J20B 2,0-litre engine that sets entirely new benchmarks. Compared to the previous J20A engine, the new powerplant achieves a significantly higher level of dynamic efficiency.

More adventurous and upmarket than ever!

For the 2010 model year, Suzuki’s dynamic crossover breaks new ground with the addition of a brand-new all-wheel drive version that adds genuine all-terrain capability to theSX4 formula for the first time.

At the same time, the entire model range has undergone a series of improvements, designed to boost this alluring, innovative all-rounder’s aesthetic appeal and dynamic prowess.

Thus, the 2010 SX4 is even more of a crowd-pleaser than before, thanks to its array of cosmetic and detail improvements. These conspire to convey a greater level of upmarket elegance, enhanced comfort and sporting appeal, while retaining the crossover’s engaging, individual personality.

The styling of the 2010 SX4 has been updated with a range of cosmetic enhancements that express a more refined look while retaining the SX4's distinctive personality.

The subtle yet effective changes include a newly designed mesh-type front grille that conveys greater elegance, along with a reworked front bumper.

Improved comfort and refinement

The SX4’s cabin has also benefited from numerous updates that add to the crossover’s upmarket look and feel. Enhanced levels of luxury and quality abound.

Tangible improvements include the armrests, which now incorporate soft pads for added comfort, along with new trim for the doors and seats, while a comfortably padded centre armrest has also been included.

The instrument cluster is completely new, and incorporates a high-contrast light-emitting design, complemented by a digital information display.

Further aiding functionality, the control panel for the climate control system has been completely redesigned, while customer feedback has led to the steering wheel-mounted cruise control and audio system switches being backlit.

A track record of success

The SX4 headlined the launch of Suzuki Auto SA in June 2008, and has played a central role in re-establishing the Japanese brand locally, allowing it to achieve constant growth over the past 18 months.

Combining key attributes of the SUV segment and the talents of the family hatch category, the SX4 lifestyle hatchback has proven a highly successful formula in SA.

The even bolder, more appealing 2010 SX4 line-up is expected to continue the legacy of the outgoing model.

"The Suzuki SX4 offers the ideal combination of style, space, performance and practicality," says Kazuyuki Yamashita, managing director of Suzuki Auto SA. "As a result, it has emerged as an ideal lifestyle choice for SA families."

A close focus on vital active and passive safety

The Suzuki SX4 has established a solid reputation for involving, yet inherently safe driving characteristics – and this applies both to its active and passive safety measures.

The launch of the AWD model undeniably adds a further dimension to the latest SX4 line-up's dynamic abilities. It also introduces an even greater level of confidence when negotiating less than perfect road surfaces.

This is reinforced by the fitment of the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with traction control as standard on the SX4 AWD model, providing an impressive degree of active driving safety.

As before, the entire SX4 range features latest-generation braking technology. Standard across the SX4 range are ventilated front and solid rear brake discs. These are controlled by ABS anti-lock control, combined with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist.

All of these systems are aimed at ensuring effective retention of control and achieving the shortest stopping times and distances possible, regardless of the road surface or the load on board.
